BIOGRAPHY
FENA GITU
THE FENAMENAL WOMAN.
Fena Gitu, popularly known as “Mamadeez,” is a Nairobi-born recording and performing artist, songwriter, producer and creative entrepreneur. Over a career spanning more than 15 years, the Kenyan artist has developed a genre-fluid sound she calls Urban Soul: Afro-fusion meeting hip-hop, R&B, neo-soul, dancehall and contemporary African rhythms, shaped by the energy and diversity of her city.
Known for her witty pen, commanding stage presence, fearless individuality and signature Fenamenal Style, Fena has built a rich catalogue of anthems, collaborations and deep cuts. Her releases include Doing Her Thing Tho, Sema Ng’we, Brikicho, Steam and the FENERGY EP, with music exploring identity, freedom, connection and life through an unmistakably Kenyan, urban and progressive worldview.
Fena is the Founder and Creative Lead of Fenamenal Entertainment, a multidisciplinary creative company building worlds through music, fashion, culture, live experiences and mentorship. Its growing ecosystem includes Fenamenal Style, a culture-driven fashion and merchandise line; Fenergy EXP, a live experiential platform bringing artists and audiences together; and Fenamentors, an emerging mentorship and creative-development initiative for young women and the next generation of African creatives.
Through her music and wider creative work, Fena champions authentic self-expression, inclusivity and cultural pride while creating room for others to be seen and heard. A voting member of the Recording Academy, she was selected to represent Kenya in the prestigious 2026 Hennessy Cypher, joining artists from across the continent on one of African hip-hop’s most recognised platforms. She continues to evolve as one of East Africa’s most distinctive creative voices, carrying the energy of Nairobi from Kenya to the world.
